Learning my way through BOS components, I implemented a simple betting application: [**Fortune Fathom**](https://near.social/yacare.near/widget/SimpleBet) It’s all on-chain and uses NEAR’s randomness to decide who wins a bet. Working on the front end was a blast. It was an excellent experience re-using and forking some components. Also, the online editor was superb! The betting mechanism is straightforward. Place a bet of **XⓃ**, and if luck is on your side, you'll receive **2 * XⓃ** – your original bet plus an equal reward. On the flip side, a loss means no return. To guard against rapid fund depletion, I've set a cap on the maximum bet to be a percent of the pool balance. If your wager exceeds this limit, the excess amount is refunded, regardless of the bet's outcome. The game employs a biased coin, tipping the odds slightly in favor of the house. The probability of winning hovers around the 48% mark, adding an extra layer of excitement to each bet. The application's profile picture was a product of my experimentation with Dalle-3.
