@LibertyDAO.near wants to know your feedback on this plan for a local project involving New Yorkers learning about common data resources and exploring ways to use and improve them. ## Data Citizens How can we build better support systems with data? Let's build on this [example](https://near.social/efiz.near/widget/NYC.OpenData.Communities) of a reusable data component, which pulls a [sample dataset](https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Social-Services/NYC-Community-Based-Organizations/i4kb-6ab6) from the NYC Open Data platform. Builders may use this to create visualizations and other useful solutions to be featured in shared libraries of resources. **Vision:** Our community is planning a series of in-person gatherings to discuss problems, ask each other questions, and propose solutions. These intentional conversations will bring together hundreds of people with different backgrounds and experience. By allocating more time to understand key issues, we can develop better data products with evolving, open-source infrastructure. ### Problem The [NYC Open Data](https://opendata.cityofnewyork.us) platform seems to be opinionated about what information can be public, and there is a top-down curation process without enough transparency or accountability. By aggregating and combining many different sources, representatives from various communities could increase accessibility and utility of city programs / services. For example, can we get data from the Food Bank?
