This event targets experienced Web2 developers in Nigeria who are certified programming academy graduates and leverages their experience to start building components and decentralized apps on BOS in Javascript and React. Our primary goal is to educate, inspire innovation, and foster collaboration within the existing tech community in Nigeria, and the budding global community of blockchain builders **Organizer Introduction** @near-africa.near is the leading regional hub for individuals interested in blockchain technology and emerging tech ecosystems in Africa. We have a strong track record of organizing impactful programs and events that have catalyzed the growth of the NEAR community in Africa. Our team, backed by extensive experience in the blockchain space, is well-equipped to organize and execute the WebFusion hackathon. NEAR Africa WG is a working group that unites leading organizations and local tech communities in Africa, represented by their contributors. The represented organizations include NEAR Africa, NEAR DevHub, [COLDS Collective](https://t.co/lQawI48236), @dedeukwushryne.near, and @dapps-over-apps.near. The group has years of experience activating technical and non-technical communities, and a vast network of partners and collaborators. Our team has successfully held a [workshop](https://twitter.com/nearafrica_/status/1675977358048653312?s=20) on NEAR and BOS with university students in Cross Rivers State, Nigeria and more recently had a presence at [EthAccra](https://www.ethaccra.xyz/) where we onboarded new developers and entrepreneurs to NEAR leveraging tools like [Sharddog](https://shard.dog/NEARAfrica), and delivered a [BOS workshop](https://x.com/ETHAccra/status/1700104874644357506?s=20) **Event impact** WebFusion Lagos is poised to make a significant impact in the African region and beyond. It aligns with NEAR's core objectives, including fostering Web3 adoption and supporting innovative projects on Near BOS. The event will: - Strengthen the impact of blockchain and Web3 technologies in the African region. - Promote NEAR, BOS and their related tools to developers, builders, and creators. - Encourage solution-based thinking with a focus on real-world applications. - Promote diversity, collaboration, and innovation within the tech community. **Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)** We expect to achieve the following KPIs: - Attract over 200 developers. - Engage at least 100 hackathon participants. - Generate a minimum of 30 innovative projects. - Offer prizes across multiple categories to incentivize participation. **Evaluation Factors** Projects developed during the hackathon will be evaluated based on: - _**Innovation and Originality**_: Projects will be assessed based on the level of creativity and uniqueness in their ideas, highlighting innovative solutions that stand out from the crowd. - _**Technicality**_: The technical aspects of project implementation, including code quality, architecture, and overall execution, will be rigorously evaluated to ensure robust and well-crafted solutions. - _**Impact and Growth**_: Evaluation will consider the potential real-world impact of each project and its scalability, acknowledging ideas that have the potential to drive significant change and growth. - _**Presentation**_: The clarity, organization, and effectiveness of the team's pitching presentation will be taken into account, as strong communication skills are essential in conveying the project's value and potential. **Funding Request** We are requesting $10,000 in funding for WebFusion Lagos , with the following allocation: - Venue: 20% of the budget - Bounties: 30% of the budget - Marketing & Promotion: 20% of the budget - Merchandise (tees, stickers): 10% of the budget - Miscellaneous: 20% of the budget **Additional Information** In conjunction with the WebFusion Lagos hackathon, we will be commencing a strategic partnership with [ALX Africa](https://www.alxafrica.com/), the continent's premier development training hub.
