Hey all 👋 I finally managed to work on the PvP feature for "chess on chain" and its MVP is already complete. First of all you might have noticed that there's now a [Twitter account](https://twitter.com/ProtocolPawns) and a rebranding to the name "Protocol Pawns". You can/should follow me on Twitter for future updates and also on @self.social.near. [The first version](https://twitter.com/marior_dev/status/1640782613047648259) of Protocol Pawns included an AI game where you can select from 3 different difficulties, including randomness, all fully on chain (even the AI!). You can still play against an AI, but it's way more fun to challenge another player. There's no matchmaking algorithm. Instead you need to send a tx that you want to challenge someone for a chess game. You can however only challenge wallets, that have been paying the "storage_deposit" aka they registered their account. Because it would be way too difficult to find people who already did that, a fuzzy search for all registered wallets is included. If you sent a challenge to someone and want to revoke it, you can also do so easily via the UI. Only the challenged wallet can obviously accept. (Btw @aliaksandrh.near I'm still waiting for you to accept my challenge) And not just that! If a game has been completed or if someone resigns, your ELO ranking will be updated. It uses the original ELO algorithm that has been implemented in Rust. I've been using [this implementation](https://github.com/atomflunder/skillratings/) and updated it to my needs. Also a "play_move" transaction will only consume as much as ~7 TGas, resulting in ~0.1 USD Cent per move with current NEAR price. Money matches are already half implemented, but not yet ready to be published. You can expect this in a future update, where you can basically send any token with any amount as a wager. The challenged wallet then needs to send the same amount of the same token to accept. Meanwhile I also reacted a [Pull Request](https://github.com/NearSocial/VM/pull/83) for Near Social VM to be able to properly update your BOS component on any sent tx result. This feature is crucial for UX, if you're using any wallet other than the regular web wallet. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead, register and challenge your first opponent for a fully on chain chess game. Only possible on @near because #NEARistheBOS
